The difference between a divorce with kids and a divorce without kids is that you have far less work to do if you have a divorce without kids.  You don't need to come up with the parenting plan; you don't need to come up with an order for child support, which can potentially be very contentious issues.   So if you have a divorce without kids, it doesn't mean it's not going to be contentious, but you have fewer agreements to make.
