Prosecutors have decided not to press domestic violence charges against former Seattle Seahawk Leroy Hill, citing that there are several complicating factors in the case that do not make it viable. The NFL player’s attorneys issued a press release stating that officials did not find enough physical evidence to move forward with the case and that the accuser was convicted of making false statements to federal agents in 2011.
The domestic violence incident took place in January 2013 when Seattle Police were called to his residence in Issaquah. He was charged with unlawful imprisonment and third-degree assault. In May, prosecutors decided not to charge Hill with a felony. Now officials say they also will not charge the pro-sports player with any misdemeanors.
This is not the first time that Leroy Hill has been in trouble with the law regarding domestic violence charges in Seattle. In April 2010, the linebacker was arrested by Police in Issaquah, Washington, after he allegedly physically assaulted his girlfriend. Although his partner suffered significant visible injuries, his case was dismissed when he agreed to attend a one-year domestic violence treatment program.
Hill has stated that he will not face disciplinary action from the NFL related to the domestic violence incident since charges were dropped.
Hill was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2005 and played for the team for eight years. He started for twelve games in the 2012 NFL season and was named to the Pro Bowl roster in 2005. He is now a free agent.
