Washington State Police dealt with two noteworthy
domestic violence cases this week.
Early in the week, a Washington SWAT team was called in after a Seattle woman told police that her partner had beaten her up and then barricaded himself inside the dwelling along with a weapon. Using pepper spray, authorities were able to apprehend and arrest the man, who was taken to King County Jail. The woman suffered minor injuries during the
assault. In a second
domestic violence incident in Washington, Yakima police separated a couple that was engaged in a domestic dispute on November 5, 2010. When the police placed the woman in a police cruiser, she allegedly took a lighter from her pocket and set her shirt on fire. The woman was taken to a Seattle medical center for smoke inhalation treatment and the vehicle suffered significant damage. Police say that although they patted the woman down for weapons during the
domestic abuse call, they allowed her to keep the lighter.
