Milton Bradley Divorce: Seattle Mariner Threw Glass At Wife

Posted on Apr 22, 2011

The wife of Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley, Monique Bradley, has filed for divorce. According to the filing, the pro-baseball star physically abused her during their six-year marriage.

Specifically, Monique stated that while they were vacationing in New York for New Year's Eve four months ago, Milton shouted at her for several minutes and then threw a glass at her head. The glass, which shattered on impact, caused Monique bleeding and minor injuries. When hotel security personnel knocked on their door, Monique ran to the bathroom to treat her cut while Milton said that there wasn’t a problem. She did not go to the hospital for treatment.

After the domestic violence incident, Monique says that her husband begged for forgiveness and threatened to kill himself if she left him. She filed for a restraining order a few weeks later and has now asked for a divorce. The divorce cites irreconcilable differences as the reason the couple is separating.

Milton’s lawyer said that the baseball player, who has a record of angry outbursts in the past, will not face charges of domestic violence. In 2004, the man threatened a police officer during a traffic stop. In 2005, he threw a water bottle at a fan and threatened a sports reporter. In 2010, he lost game time because of “emotional issues.”

The couple has two children, sons Jeremiah and Noah, ages one and five. In the Washington State divorce, Monique is seeking full legal and physical custody of the children as well as child support.
