Jennie Garth Finding Strength During Divorce from Peter Facinelli

Posted on May 15, 2012
Hollywood stars Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli have decided to divorce after an 11-year marriage and a 16-year relationship. The couple separated in mid-March and announced their divorce just weeks later.

Garth, who is best known for playing the part of Kelly Taylor on the television series Beverly Hills, 90210, is now starring in a new reality show Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country, in which she has discussed the divorce with a therapist and shared her sadness and anger with the world. The 39-year-old actress has told reporters that she did not want the divorce and that the couple sought therapy before deciding to split.

Peter Facinelli, who has appeared in the televisions series Nurse Jackie and Fastlane, as well as in the Twilight movie series, has not been as open about the divorce with media. However, the 38-year-old star released a joint statement with his wife announcing the split and stressing their love and devotion to their children. Some have speculated that the recent fame Facinelli has enjoyed after his role as a vampire in Twilight had affected the couple’s marriage.

The couple has three children: Luca Bella, 14, Lola Ray, 9, and Fiona Eve, 5. The couple told their children about the divorce with the help of a therapist.

In the most recent episode of Garth’s reality show, the actress and mother confessed that she didn’t realize how deeply she loved her husband until the relationship ended – and that the divorce, paired with the recent loss of her father, has led to a very difficult time in her life.
