Bellevue Child Involved in Custody Case Mysteriously Disappears

Posted on Nov 25, 2011

Authorities are baffled by missing child case in which a toddler disappeared under strange circumstances during a Bellevue divorce and child custody dispute.

According to the Seattle Times, a Bellevue mom was driving with her two young children when she experienced car troubles. Then 30-year-old Julia Biryukova and her 4-year-old daughter walked to get gas and left her two-year-old boy Sky Elijah Metalwala in the unlocked car alone. When they returned to the car two hours later, the boy was missing and the friend that drove them to the car called 911.

The boy’s father has stated he is suspicious of his estranged wife’s story, which is similar to a recent episode of Law & Order, which Biryukova watches. The investigation has also found that the woman, who is a Ukrainian immigrant, has been active on “sugar daddy” online dating sites. The woman has been uncooperative with police since telling her initial story. Police say that the case is still a missing person case and not a crime, as the boy could be with relatives or the story could be accurate.

Biryukova has hired an attorney and is not speaking to the media. Her lawyer has said she will not take a lie detector test because of their inaccurate results. She told police that it wasn’t uncommon of her to leave her children unattended.
