Clark County Tea Party Candidate Acquitted Of Domestic Violence Charges

A Clark County Jury has acquitted 31-year-old Daniel Hedrick of fourth degree assault domestic violence charges in Washington State this week. The man, a Camas politician, was accused of punching his wife Megan in the head during a domestic dispute in October. While the jury heard evidence that Megan was also physically violent, the jury did not agree with the defense that the man was acting in self-defense.

Hedrick is a member of the Tea Party who ran for a seat in the House in the 3rd Congressional District of Washington State. He lost in the primary to Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler and Democrat Denny Heck, who were vying for the open seat left by Brian Baird. No one in the jury had heard of Hedrick and were therefore not acting in line with political affiliations. After the verdict, Hedrick said that he would like to continue his political career.

The jury deliberated for a half-hour regarding the Washington State domestic violence case.
