Washington State Rep. Geoff Simpson has been charged with
domestic violence assault after allegedly shoving his ex-wife. Simpson, who is from Covington, was visiting his daughter in the hospital after a surgery when a witness saw the politician shove his wife into the room and shut the door. According to the social worker who saw the incident and called Seattle Police, the woman tried to bar Simpson from entering and he shoved her into the room before saying a few words to his daughter and then leaving.
Simpson is denying the charges, saying that they are false and that his ex-wife is lying because of a divorce settlement issue. The democrat is to appear in court on July 26.
Simpson was arrested after a
domestic violence incident with his wife in 2008, but charges were later dropped. Simpson also insists that those
domestic violence charges were “false and outrageous.”
