Renton Woman Shoots Federal Way Man With Domestic Violence History

A Washington State man was allegedly shot and seriously wounded by a woman during a domestic violence incident last week. Renton Police say that the couple had a long history of domestic violence calls and charges and that at the time of the shooting there was a protection order between the two people that forbade them from seeing each other.

The shooting occurred Wednesday evening, when Renton Police were called to the 20-year-old woman’s home on Northeast 12th Street. There, they found a 28-year-old Federal Way man with apparent gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center for treatment, though his current condition is not known.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Renton woman has been arrested for domestic violence felony investigation of assault. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the department immediately.

This case is, sadly, another example of how protection orders can be helpful, but cannot be relied upon to keep you completely safe from your abuser. Domestic violence can escalate after a relationship ends and even after a court order to stay far away from your ex-spouse or partner.
