Operation Military Family Strives To Keep Seattle Couples Together

While most of Washington State enjoys record low divorce rates, there is one group that is in increasing amounts of stress and has ever-growing rates of divorce: military families. The stress of an absent spouse, financial problems, and, obviously, the worry that comes with a spouse in combat is a terrible strain on a relationship.

To help these families in Seattle through tough times, a Washington organization called “Operation Military Families” is working to keep military families strong even during these times of war. Divorce can become a topic on the tongue of even couples who have only been together a few years, and Operation Military Families offers these left behind spouses counseling and alternative means to deal with their understandably rough thoughts and feelings.

This week the Seattle organization is celebrating “Petal Power,” in which volunteers can send drawings of flowers to spouses who need emotional support while they are alone.
