Man Shot By Seattle Police Had History of Domestic Violence

Seattle Police say that the man they shot in a grocery store out of self-defense earlier this month had a history of domestic violence with both his wife and his mother.

After a struggle with police in a Wedgwood, Washington, supermarket, 43-year-old Ariel Rosenfeld pulled a gun from his waistband and threatened the officers. He was shot once in the stomach by the police and died shortly after.

Rosenfeld had been accused of choking his 71-year-old mother unconscious the night before – and had a history of violence against women in the past. In fact, both his mother and his wife had filed protection orders against the man in the past year. His wife said that her husband was mentally ill and needed aid. She also said that he had physically assaulted her, abused his mother’s dog, stalked her, and punched a five foot hole in the wall after she locked herself in the bathroom.
